Balsam Pull Markeaton Park to Ford St
Pulling the Balsam allows our native plants to grow which provide winter shelter and food for wildlife. Please wear clothing which covers arms and legs and waterproof/sturdy footwear. Protective gloves and training provided.
We have already cleared long stretches of the brook. Balsam Pull continues through July and early August when conditions permit. To be added to the select list of pickers please e-mail Lynne pr@markeatonbrook.net or text or leave message on our events line 0753 0505 107.
Practical Tasks last Thursday of every month.
A group of members
carry out maintenance along the Brook including litter clearances,
balsam removal, species recording and other tasks depending on the
season. We welcome anyone who can offer a little of their time to
come along and help us. Equipment is provided. Times and meeting
places vary each month, and these events are weather dependant. To
join this group contact us on 0753 0505 107 or at

City Safari: Sunday 16 August 2pm-4pm
Come with us and Derby

a wealth of city wildlife. Led by our old friend Bill Grange, former
Keeper of Natural History at the Museum, this walk is mainly on
flat, surfaced paths but there is one flight of steps and there may
be some mud. Meet at corner of Ford St and Brook Walk where the
Brook enters the culvert to pass under the inner ring road. You
might want to look at www.dnhs.org.uk.
Watch out for a reprise of Derek Palmer taking us along the Brook Beneath Your Feet later in the year.
